Durham Vocal festival is thrilled to present the WORLD PREMIERE of Solfa Carlisle’s ‘Life of St. Cuthbert’ libretto by Nick Pitts-Tucker and Charlie Rozier. This wonderful new work tells the story of St. Cuthbert as a semi-staged Oratorio performed at Cuthbert’s Final resting place – Durham Cathedral.

This event is the culmination of a week musical pilgrimage, taking the music the from Lindisfarne, through Bamburgh then two primary schools in Northumberland and two primaries in Durham before ‘coming to a rest’ with this extraordinary performance at Durham Cathedral with regions best youth chamber choir and outstanding players, featuring Daniel Tate (former lay Clark at Durham Cathedral) as part of St. Cuthbert.

The performance will be conducted by James Burton, conductor of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus and the choral director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
