Emergency Bursary

We have set up an emergency bursary to support pupils whose parent/carers can no longer pay for lessons as a direct result of the coronavirus.

We are hoping to support as many pupils as possible to be able to continue to play, but need your help.

When we set up Durham Music Trust a few years ago it was to support the pupils of Durham Music Service to continue their music making. None of us imagined how vital this fundraising would be for DMS at this current time.

Music and Music Education has had a huge impact on my life, nurtured by Durham Music Service. I would be devastated if other pupils were not able to access the same musical opportunities I had growing up from DMS

Impact of Music

Music can have such a huge impact on:

  • pupils well being,
  • self confidence
  • Reducing stress

At this challenging time when pupils and families are isolated, stressed and worried, Music and Music education can have a huge effect upon their current health and well being.

Each pupil’s lessons cost an average of £85 per term

To support we are asking those that can to sponsor a pupil or a number of pupils in their learning, covering some or all of the costs of their lessons.

For those that can please sponsor a pupil so they can continue to learn music at this difficult time.
