DMS Youth Orchestra & Senior Wind band Orchestras live workshop

Scherzo from Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 from 'The New World' as inspiration to create a new 4-5 minute musical response with the Durham Music Youth Orchestra.  The youth Orchestra will work with music leader Sarah Freestone and 4 Hallé Orchestra players (one from each instrument 'family', i.e. strings, woodwind, brass and percussion).  Over two workshop days, the new piece will be created together, and then performed together with the Hallé players to open the concert at Darlington Hippodrome.  The creative work will focus on developing young musician's musical and compositional skills in devising new music through listening, memorisation and improvisation.  Following their performance, all participating young people will be provided with seats to enjoy the Hallé's performance.

Workshops are on Saturday 20th and Saturday 27th January 2024 between 10am and 4pm at Ushaw College.
