Durham Music is thrilled to launch its very first Young Musician of the Year Competition!

It’s open to all musicians of approximately Grade 6 level and above, but you do not have to have passed an external exam to take part. Every style of music is welcome, so whether you sing, play a mean lead guitar, or play a brass, woodwind or string instrument, this competition if for you.
It’s simple to enter! All you need to do is complete the form below and upload a short video recording of your playing.

Our expert judges will select finalists to perform in the lovely surrounding of Durham Town Hall on Sunday 26th June at 11:00am.

Chosen finalists will be asked to perform for no longer than 10 minutes. The choice of music is your own, but we suggest you choose music you love to play and shows you off to your best! You can bring your own accompanist ask for the Durham Music accompanist on the form below. If you tick this option we will contact you about this.

Here’s some helpful tips when recording your video:
• Please try and record your video submission in a quiet space and avoid any background noise
• Performances don’t need an accompanist
• If you are using a backing track, make sure the track is playing on a separate device to the
device you’re using to record your performance
• Please make sure that you and the instrument are visible in the recording
• Submissions are to be no more than 2 minutes
• Audio recordings will not be accepted

remember to save the pupil name on video file:
