His main roles are to help to raise the profile  of Durham Music  Service and to  secure more external funding from trusts and foundations, public sector grants and from local businesses and philanthropists. He also helps to organise and successfully deliver major musical events and activities and helps develop new partnerships and projects to generate new business. He has set up Durham Music Trust as the charitable arm of Durham Music Service helping us to secure more funding from trusts and foundations.   

He is a qualified accountant, Prince 2 project manager and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy. He is highly experienced at raising external funding having secured in excess of £127m for a wide range of multi-million pound capital and revenue projects with a 100% success rate on applications exceeding £200k. As Project Manager, at Durham County Council he successfully developed and funded a £3.2m project to develop and restore Wharton Park which opened on 28.5.2016 and developed and funded several multi-million pound regeneration projects in Durham City. He has also successfully funded and developed a wide range of community economic development projects working for East Durham and Durham City AAP and was a member of the successful East Durham AAP Team which won Durham County Council Team of the Year award in 2015.

As Head of Corporate Services at Newcastle Gateshead Initiative, he funded and developed a suite of cultural and core cost projects exceeding £6m as part of the £140m Culture 10 programme. Paul also managed Northumberland’s European Programmes team, quadrupling take up of EU resources under his tenure and worked with the Duchess of Northumberland to help develop and fund the Alnwick Garden project and major projects to protect and develop Hadrian’s Wall.

Paul can speak Norwegian and loves travelling to Norway to visit friends and family.
