DMS Stars Orchestra Durham 2025-26

DMS Stars is designed for all string players at the very start of their musical journey. We have a very relaxed atmosphere in the sessions, with games and movement too, having fun making music is the priority! Playing in an ensemble hugely increases confidence and enjoyment, from beginners to all levels. Parts are hugely differentiated from just open string parts – no fingers necessary – to Grade 1 level. We encourage performance in DMS and have at least two informal concerts a year, often with other music groups across the county. This is the beginner orchestra for Durham City, following on from this is the City Orchestra that meets at the same time, which is from approximately Grade 2 upwards.

Rehearsals happen weekly during term time on Mondays between 4.00 pm and 5.00 pm.

Instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass.

Level: DMS Stars Level (after one year of playing your instrument) to Pre Grade 2
