Secondary

Progression and aspiring to excellence is at the heart of the work that Durham Music Service offers in schools in Durham and Darlington. We work incredibly closely with schools to ensure the service we provide not only meets their needs, but also that of the children, parents and community.

Secondary Music Education is a vital element in the work that we deliver; during 2017-18 DMS delivered over 14,000 hours of small group teaching in secondary schools alone.

Delivering includes:

  • Small Group Teaching
  • Network meetings visit our Training page
  • Bespoke training
  • High Profile performances visit our Events page
  • Instrument hire
  • Whole Class teaching
  • Cover lessons

Each school is assigned an Area Manager to discuss and plan the delivery in each department.

We are proud to work with 98% of secondary settings in Durham and Darlington, developing musicians from Key Stage 3,4 and 5 and supporting GCSE, BTEC and A level students.
