Musical activity gives powerful, validating, multi-sensory and kinaesthetic experiences to children with SEND, supporting the development of the whole child.

Durham Music Service has created a range of programmes to help develop and support music in your school. This is enhanced by a range of performance opportunities outside the classroom such as the Big Sign and Sing and SEND Showcase days.
All schools are entitled to subsidised teaching, please contact us for details.

Having worked with Durham Music Service for a number of years now the impact of music making within our SEND setting is unmeasurable. Many of the students in our school are non-verbal and music gives them a means to communicate with each other. It’s one of the few sessions each week that they come together as a group to celebrate and share. Keeley Steel, Hopewood Academy
